Nelson's Chauffeured Transportation opened for business on August 1st, 1997. At that time there was limited limousine service available in Coles County. Since then a few others have attempted to enter the ground transportation market in this area and found success to be increasingly difficult. September 11th, 2001 forever changed the field of ground transportation. Federal Government regulations have become much more complex since 9/11, thus making it increasingly difficult for new start up companies to gain a share of the market. Nelson's started out small and you can expect that will not change, at least in the near future. By keeping our "overhead" limited, Nelson's can compete with larger operators and offer our clients a certain "personal touch" that the owners pledge to never compromise. As a matter of fact, there is a good chance that on any given trip you will find the founder, Mark Nelson, safely piloting the limo down the road. Mark's professional background has led him many places including 15 years as a high school principal. Currently Mark wears many hats for the local school district including the title of Transportation Director. When he can schedule the time you can find him behind the controls of an airplane as he has held an FAA pilot license for over 30 years.
